今年3月，国际奥委会在官网宣布，2012年伦敦奥运会女子20公里竞走金牌获得者因兴奋剂问题被取消成绩。这枚金牌已重新分配给中国选手切阳什姐，银牌和铜牌则重新分配给中国选手刘虹和吕秀芝。

不少人可能会有这样的疑问，为何要经历如此漫长的等待？在发现运动员使用兴奋剂后，为什么不能立即剥夺其奖牌，再马上补发给其他运动员呢？
实际上，为了程序的完整性，从确认兴奋剂阳性后到重新补发奖牌，要经历四个步骤。
首先是法律程序，根据不同情况，这个程序可能会长达4-24个月；第二，是国际奥委会执委会准备阶段，国际奥委会将要求国际单项体育联合会确认新的排名，这个过程会长达1-3个月；之后，国际奥委会执委会在1-3个月内作出决定，批准奖牌重新分配；最后，才是奖牌的重新分配，国际奥委会通知运动员所在国家（地区）奥委会安排奖牌重新分配。

而在奖牌重新分配环节，按照国际奥委会的规定，有六种颁发奖牌的方式可供运动员选择：在下一届奥运会、在青奥会、在国际奥委会总部或奥林匹克博物馆、在国家（地区）奥委会相关活动上、在国际单项体育组织相关活动上和私人仪式。
一旦运动员确定了一种颁奖仪式，国际奥委会将会同相关国家（地区）奥委会，在一年之内（除非选择在下一届奥运会领取奖牌）举行奖牌重新颁发仪式。
本次的补发仪式是由中国奥委会主办，而在家门口的亚运会上举行，意义则更加显著——全场观众的热烈欢呼声中，七名运动员出场，颁奖仪式的所有流程一个不少，当国歌奏响，国旗升起，宛若回到了奥运赛场。
